5 People Displaced After 2-Alarm House Fire.  A two-alarm fire on Silopanna Road has displaced five people in Annapolis Wednesday, according to the Annapolis Fire Department. Firefighters said they encountered heavy smoke from a single-family home. Firefighters took 40 minutes to get the blaze under control, according to officials. No injuries were reported.

First Lady Praises Midshipmen At US Naval Academy. First lady Michelle Obama praised midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy for their service as she joined Gov. Martin O’Malley for a veterans bill signing. Obama told about 4,000 midshipmen Wednesday at the academy in Annapolis that she and President Barack Obama were working hard for them, just as they do for the country.

Taxi Driver Robbed At Gunpoint By Couple. A taxi driver said he was robbed by a couple who put a gun to his head in Glen Burnie and then hopped into a getaway car. Anne Arundel County police were called to the area of Glen Ridge Road around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, where the victim told them that he was called to the area to pick up a fare.

Vigil Held For MD Teacher Injured In Boston Bombing.  Dozens of people gathered at a Towson church Wednesday night to pray for Boston Marathon victim and Maryland teacher Erika Brannock, her family and all of the explosion victims, including another person who was identified as having ties to Maryland.
