3-Alarm Fire Damages Glen Burnie Apartments. A three-alarm fire heavily damaged apartments at a complex in Glen Burnie.Anne Arundel County fire Lt. Keith Hamilton said firefighters responded about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday to the Villages at Marley Station in the 100 block of Faywood Avenue, where they found heavy smoke and fire coming out of the three-story complex.Officials told 11 News that the blaze broke out at one of the ground-level apartments and spread to others.

Anne Arundel Names 2012 Teacher Of The Year. An elementary school teacher known for following up with her students years later received a special honor Monday night in Anne Arundel County.Martha Gardner, a fifth-grade teacher at Belvedere Elementary School in Arnold, was named as the 2011-2012 Anne Arundel County Public Schools Teacher of the Year.Gardner is the first elementary school teacher to win the Public Schools Teacher of the Year Award since 1999-2000, when Denise Levitine, then an art teacher at Piney Orchard Elementary School, received the award.

Search Dogs Comb Severna Park For Clues In Cold Case. Search teams joined by specially-trained dogs combed a wooded area of Severna Park Monday morning, searching for clues in the case of a man who disappeared in 1994.Anne Arundel County police and volunteers searched an area of the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail in an effort to find possible clues in the April 12, 1994, disappearance of James Arthur Cole, who left a Severna Park restaurant at about 1:30 a.m.

Officer Identified In Fatal Odenton Shooting. A man fatally shot by a four-year police veteran last week grabbed an object threatening the officer, Anne Arundel County police said in a statement released Monday. According to the statement, Officer Timothy Peck shot Gary Petrie, 56, of Gambrills, after a brief physical altercation shortly before 6 p.m. in the 800 block of Frost Valley Lane. Police said Peck used nonlethal weapons to try to subdue Petrie, but those efforts failed.
