Navy kicks off Army-Navy Week with pep rally

Nearly 4000 midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy were in attendance at a party last night on Farragut Field to kick off Army-Navy Week.  The Electric Brigade was on hand to provide the entertainment along with flaming cauldrons, fireworks, and  an effigy of an Army mule that was set ablaze and burned to the ground

VADM Ted Carter, Academy Superintendent took a moment to remember Pearl Harbor and commented that the last time Army had won this game the incoming Plebes were 6 years old!  CAPT William Byrne, Commandant of Midshipmen, addressed the brigade and reminded them that Navy gives a ship (allusion to this video) and Navy never gives up the ship. Finally, the football team came on stage and Co-Captain Parrish Gaines addressed the crowd and told them they had always been there for the team and they needed the support of the Brigade for two more games–Army on Saturday and San Diego State in the Poinsettia Bowl on December 23rd.

After Gaines, fired up the crowd, the team marched up to the bonfire and set it ablaze!

Eye On Annapolis will have photographers on the field in Baltimore on Saturday  to bring you all the action. Please follow us on Twitter or check in on our Facebook page.
