Budget Woes May Cancel Classes At USNA. U.S. Naval Academy officials said federal budget cuts could lead to canceled classes. Academy spokesman Cmdr. John Schofield said the cuts will mean furlough days. Schofield said Department of Defense civilian employees must take 11 furlough days between July 8 and Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year.
