Baysox To Celebrate A Festivus For The Restivus

The Bowie Baysox announce today the Festivus Miracle at Prince George’s Stadium Thursday, July 7, as the team takes on the Reading Phillies at 7:05 p.m.  The event is based on a holiday created in the hit show “Seinfeld” and features Festivus Poles, Feats of Strength, the Airing of the Grievances, “Seinfeld” video clips, a Kramer look-alike contest and a toy drive.

Baysox Director of Marketing Brandan Kaiser explained the event.  “I got a lot of problems with you people,” Kaiser said.  “Now, you are going to hear about it during our Festivus celebration.  We have all the trimmings of a traditional Festivus, and we invite fans to donate toys at the game for Louie’s Holiday Hope Project.”

Fans can share Festivus tidings around the traditional Festivus poles on the concourse level of the stadium.  The poles are made of aluminum with very high strength-to-weight ratios and stand approximately six feet tall.  Throughout the game, fans can perform Feats of Strength against a Baysox intern at a special arm wrestling station on the concourse, and pick up an official “Airing of the Grievances” form at the Fan Assistance table on the third base concourse.  Grievances will be read over stadium speakers throughout the game and while kids run the bases after the game.  Any fan who donates a new, unwrapped toy to Louie’s Holiday Hope Project during the event is entered into a raffle to win a ball autographed by the team.

In between innings, the Baysox host various “Seinfeld” themed promotions, including Seinfeld trivia and a Kramer look-alike contest based on Seinfeld’s neighbor on the show.

Fans can also pick up official certificates of donation to the Human Fund at the Fan Assistance Table.  The Human Fund was a fictional charitable organization created by a “Seinfeld” character during the Festivus episode.  It is not affiliated with the Human Fund in Cleveland, Ohio, and no monetary charitable donations will be accepted at the stadium.

Individual Baysox game tickets range from $6 to $14 and are available online at www.baysox.com or by calling the Baysox box office at (301) 464-4865.

Baysox Baseball – We’ll Knock Your ‘Sox Off. The Baysox 19th season as the class Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles is underway.  Parking is free at every Baysox home game and tickets are now available at www.baysox.com or by calling the Baysox box office at (301) 464-4865.
