Children’s Theatre of Annapolis presents the timeless Broadway adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Princess and the Pea, “Once Upon a Mattress.”  No one in Prince Dauntless’s kingdom is permitted to marry until the prince himself exchanges vows, but the prince’s overprotective mother thwarts all efforts to marry her son. After a long and arduous journey designed to find the prince a bride, Sir Harry returns with a princess. Immediately taken by the princess, Prince Dauntless sets into motion plans for a lavish wedding as his scheming mother cooks up a test that’s sure to send his marital plans awry.  The role of Prince Dauntless is performed by homeschooled 10th grader Isaac Simonaire, Sir Harry is Severna Park sophomore Austin Heemstra, the Queen is Broadneck High senior Hayley White, Princess Winnifred is Seton High School junior Allie Bannigan, the King is Atholton High School junior Sam Kobren and Lady Larken is Spalding High freshman Cassidy Hamilton.  The show is narrated by the Minstrel, Severna Park High School senior Justin Binnix.
The show, directed and choreographed by Jason Kimmell with music direction by Wes Livingston, will performed by kids ages 12 – 18.  Show dates are Friday, January 7, 7:30 PM, Saturday, January 8, 2:00 & 7:30 PM, Sunday, January 9, 2:00 and Friday, January 14, 7:30 PM, Saturday, January 15, 2:00 & 7:30 PM, and Sunday, January 16, 2:00, 2011.
