Third Eye Faithful, get ready: this February, we’re bringing you one of the biggest signings to hit Third Eye yet: UMBRELLA ACADEMY, DOOM PATROL and TRUE LIVES OF THE FABULOUS KILLJOYS writer GERARD WAY (who many of you also know from his incredible band MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE) will be joining DC Comics superstar STEVE ORLANDO (SUPERGIRL, JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, MIDNIGHTER AND APOLLO) at Third Eye for our huge MILK WARS FINALE Signing, as they bring their epic JUSTICE LEAGUE / DOOM PATROL crossover to a close.

We’ve been huge fans of both Gerard & Steve’s amazing work in comics for a while now, and when we had the rare opportunity to bring them in for this — we jumped at it!

WHAT’S MILK WARS ABOUT?
So, for the last year or so, Gerard Way has been bringing a sense of pure raw comic book madness to the DC Universe in the pages of his YOUNG ANIMAL pop-up imprint.

A finely curated collection of cutting-edge new comics that take classic DCU superheroes, and blends them with post-modern ideas, and a unique kind of magic to make for some of the most fascinating and impressive comics on the stands.

Now, the world of Way’s YOUNG ANIMAL will be colliding with the DC Universe proper in an epic crossover titled MILK WARS.

Whether you’ve been hooked on the YOUNG ANIMAL books all along, or you’ve never read them before — this is a perfect way to introduce yourself to them, while at the same time finding out just how fantastic the current JUSTICE LEAGUE stuff has been!

So, what’s the scoop on it?

It all begins in JUSTICE LEAGUE / DOOM PATROL #1, in January, as a brand new villain, designed by comic legend FRANK QUITELY (WE 3, AUTHORITY, ALL STAR SUPERMAN) known as the MILKMAN MAN.

In the vein of THE ANTI-MONITOR from CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, the Milkman Man’s goal is to homogenize the DC Universe and remove all traces of the beautiful strangeness and odd wonder that makes the DCU so unique.

Of course – this doesn’t sit well with the world’s most unusual heroes: DOOM PATROL.

As we said before, we’re both huge fans of Gerard & Steve’s work in comics, and we’re so excited to get to showcase it to you at this event!

First off, we have to talk about.. well, DOOM PATROL!

As the flagship of the YOUNG ANIMAL imprint, DOOM PATROL is easily one of our favorite comics on the stands, and we just can’t get enough of this book.

A blenderized reimagining of the ultimate series of the strange, DOOM PATROL combines elements from classic runs, new directions and things that could not be.

Our entry point is Casey Brinke, a young E.M.T. on the graveyard shift to abstract enlightenment, with a past so odd that she’s not entirely sure what is real and what is not.

Along with her partner, Sam Reynolds, the pair blaze a path through the city and its denizens, finding the only quiet that exists at 3 a.m. is the chaos of the brain.

When the pair answer a hit-and-run call, they find themselves face to face with a familiar figure: Cliff Steele, a.k.a. Robotman.

This book combines the beautiful strangeness that you love in cult classics like Morrison’s original DOOM PATROL and ANIMAL MAN runs with a modern, new sensibility that is truly something unique.

Spinning out of the events of the JUSTICE LEAGUE VS. SUICIDE SQUAD event, the new JLA series features one of the most exciting DC Comics super-team line-ups we’ve seen in quite some time.

And, yes, it’s THE Lobo as you remember and love him most!

Another epic series by Gerard Way is the UMBRELLA ACADEMY, which is one of our all-time favorites here at Third Eye!

In an inexplicable worldwide event, forty-seven extraordinary children were spontaneously born by women who’d previously shown no signs of pregnancy.

Millionaire inventor Reginald Hargreeves adopted seven of the children; when asked why, his only explanation was, “To save the world.”

These seven children form The Umbrella Academy, a dysfunctional family of superheroes with bizarre powers.

Their first adventure at the age of ten pits them against an erratic and deadly Eiffel Tower, piloted by the fearsome zombie-robot Gustave Eiffel.

Nearly a decade later, the team disbands, but when Hargreeves unexpectedly dies, these disgruntled siblings reunite just in time to save the world once again.

We’ve gotta give a big shout-out to Steve Orlando’s stellar MIDNIGHTER series that ran through 2015, and delivered some of the best work on the classic AUTHORITY character since Mark Millar and Warren Ellis’s defining runs.

Spinning out of GRAYSON comes a solo series starring the man who can predict your every move…but no one will be able to predict what he’ll do next!

A theft at the God Garden has unleashed a wave of dangerous biotech weapons on the world, and Midnighter intends to put that genie back in the bottle by any means necessary.

But something else was stolen from the Garden as well…the secret history of Lucas Trent, the man Midnighter once was!
