Rotarians are “ringing the bells,” the sound of the season, to support the Salvation Army’s traditional holiday fundraiser.
Rotarians Jim Dolezal and Carole Brown have managed the Rotary’s Red Kettle site at the foot of Main Street downtown for the last 10 years. They have engaged numerous Rotarians, friends, local companies, and community organizations to join in bell ringing at the festive corner of Main Street daily from the Friday after Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve, except on Sundays. For safety this year, all volunteers will be wearing PPE and maintaining appropriate distancing.
Donations made to the Salvation Army provide food, shelter, utility and rent assistance, and services to our neighbors in need. Because of the pandemic, requests to the Salvation Army for help have increased significantly this year, yet donations are down – including to the kettle – as people aren’t out and about as they normally would be. To make up for the expected shortfall in vital contributions, on-line kettle donations can be made to the Salvation Army on the Rotary Club’s website at: www.annapolisrotary.org/kettle.

The Rotary Club of Annapolis was founded in 1921 and will celebrate its centennial in 2021. The Club includes 140 members focused on improving our local community and the world.
