Dad Charged In Stabbing Of Daughters, Wife. Anne Arundel County police on Thursday charged a father in connection with the stabbings of his two daughters and wife.Julio Esquetini, 49, was charged with attempted murder, assault and other related offenses.Police said one of the victims, a daughter of Esquetini, called police around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday to say their father stabbed her, her sister and their mother in their Crofton home.

Teen Convicted In 14-Year-Old’s Death Freed. A teenager convicted in the death of a 14-year-old Crofton boy in what was thought to be gang-related violence has been freed from custody.Javel George, 18, was granted probation by a judge until he’s 21 and will have to wear a GPS monitor system.George was found guilty as a juvenile of manslaughter in December 2009 in the death of Christopher Jones. He was ordered to spend up to four years in a juvenile facility.Jones died two years ago after being attacked while he was riding his bike near his home.

Annapolis Man Dies During Chesapeake Bay Swim. Officials said a 43-year-old Annapolis man has died while participating in the annual Great Chesapeake Bay swim. Race director Chuck Nabit said Grahame Rice was pulled onto a rescue boat minutes after being found in the water during Sunday’s race. He was pronounced dead at Queen Anne’s Emergency Center in Queenstown. Rice’s father-in-law, Bob Robinson, said doctors suspect a heart attack was the cause of Rice’s death.Robinson said Rice had been training for the race all year and had finished it two years ago.

Penn National To Sell MD Jockey Club Interest. Penn National Gaming, Inc. announced Thursday it will sell its interests in the Maryland Jockey Club.The Maryland Jockey Club is the operator of Laurel Park and Pimlico Race Course, home of the Preakness Stakes, which is the second leg of the Triple Crown. Penn National announced it will sell its interests in the jockey club to Stron-MJC Limited Partnership, which is owned by Frank Stronach.
