Before mistletoe hung over our thresholds, a kissing ball made of boxwood stems or other greenery decorated Colonial homes during the Christmas holidays. Join the Friends of the Rising Sun Inn on Saturday, November 17th, or Saturday, December 1st, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for the 4th Annual Make-your-Own Colonial Kissing Ball Holiday Fundraiser.
This is a drop-in/open house event at the historic Rising Sun Inn located at 1090 Generals Highway, in Crownsville, Maryland. As space is limited, you will need to register in advance. Plan to allow 1 – 2 hours to complete one kissing ball. Price: $25.00 for Friends of the Rising Sun Inn member and $32.00 for non-members per kissing ball (and yes, you can make more than one). All materials and instructions provided. The only thing you need to bring is a tote to collect your boxwood trimmings. Register online or to avoid the online service fee email [email protected]. The Friends of the Rising Sun Inn is a non-profit, 501(c)3 charitable organization established to provide funding for the preservation, restoration, repair, maintenance, and operation of the Rising Sun Inn and property as an historical site and museum. The Rising Sun Inn, built circa 1753, is a rare surviving example of a pre-Revolutionary, hip-roofed farmhouse and is listed with the National Registry of Historic Places.
