Learn How to Reduce Your Family’s Food Waste with Ahi Thambinayagam

September 24, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Hundreds of thousands of pounds of food are thrown out every day in our county. Much of this waste comes not from grocery stores and restaurants, but from our family tables. Join us for a lunch and learn talk with Ahi Thambinayagam, General Manager of Stoney River Steakhouse and Grill in Annapolis to learn about food waste, how to reduce food waste in your home, and how we can take immediate and personal action everyday to address hunger and access to food in our communities.

This event is in partnership with the Anne Arundel County Food Bank (AACFB) to educate and bring awareness to the issue of hunger and food insecurity in our local communities during Hunger Action Month. Food, funds, and awareness raised as part of Hunger Action Month will help provide critical food distribution for children, adults, and seniors throughout Anne Arundel County. Food insecurity has greatly increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Anne Arundel County. Since March 2020, AACFB has seen a 482 percent increase in the number of people seeking assistance at food pantries and, in response, distributed nearly 7.4 million pounds of food. Learn more and see the latest updates about Hunger Action Month at www.aafoodbank.org/action. Every action, big or small, that our Anne Arundel County residents take this September makes a real difference for people battling food insecurity.
