Did you know that your child has two brains? One in her head and one in her gut. Emerging science is demonstrating that invisible microbes in the human gut affect the way people think and feel. Ninety percent of serotonin (your child’s “feel good” neurotransmitter) is produced in their gut. This means that by changing how we care for our children’s gut we can alter what’s happening in their brains. With a 37% nationwide increase in the diagnosis of depression in teens and a 43% increase in the diagnosis of ADHD, identifying affective measures for safeguarding your child’s mental health is imperative. In this workshop Annemarie Tolman, Johns Hopkins graduate and advanced practice RN, will explore what you can do to affect the health of your child’s gut and his brain in three simple steps. Come and learn more.
