McBride Gallery presents “Dusk to Dawn: A Nocturne Show” opening on May 5th and running to June 9th. The term, ‘nocturne’ was coined by James McNeill Whistler to describe paintings in an absence of light: twilight, dawn, and even night time. Rembrandt, Whistler and Remington are some of the more noted historic nocturne painters. Nocturnes were a favorite in the Tonalism movement in the late 19th and early 20th century and continue to be popular today. Meet the artists at the opening reception on Sunday, May 5 from 1:00-4:00pm
