Barry grew up in the family business, working for Jonathan Green, Inc. from the age of 12. Barry has literally done every job in the grass seed business, from mixing grass seed and unloading trucks to contracting grass seed acres with seed farmers in Oregon, or discussing turfgrass attributes with grass plant breeders.

After graduating from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1977, Barry joined the business full time. He started calling on customers as soon as he could drive, and has done so ever since. Today, Barry works with his father Barry Green Sr. and his brother-in-law Todd Pretz to run the family business.

Jonathan Green Inc. offers a full line of grass seed products such as the Black Beauty Mixtures and traditional and organic lawn and garden fertilizers, soil amendments and control products. They sell to independent only retailers such as garden centers and hardware stores and also to turfgrass professionals such as sod growers, municipalities, landscapers and golf courses.

Barry is the fifth generation of what is now a six generation family business.
