COMMUNITY TO UNITE TO FIGHT CANCER at #RELAYFIRSTLAP
American Cancer Society Relay For Life Kicks Off in South Anne Arundel County

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of South Anne Arundel County is a community celebration where individuals and teams set-up, picnic, dance, play games and take turns walking around a track “relay” style to raise funds and fight cancer. The event opens as cancer survivors lead the way around the track and are honored with the Survivor Lap. As the sun begins to set, the warm glow of hundreds of Luminaria light the field in an emotional silent ceremony. Each bag lit is in honor of a loved one who won the fight against cancer or in remembrance of a special someone who lost their battle. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life represents hope that those lost to cancer will not be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day, cancer will be eliminated.

This year’s event Relay For Life event takes place at Crofton High School on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 5 pm to 11 pm.

Everyone is invited to join as we officially launch the 2023 Relay For Life season at our #RelayFirstLap on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM until noon in Crofton. Our first lap of the year will be around the Crofton Parkway, with the official starting point being the Crofton Village Green parking lot. All are welcome to join our walk from any point along the way. This day is meant to be a day to kick-start your annual participation in Relay For Life. So if you haven’t signed up yet – do it today. If you have, great – ask someone else to join you or engage a company to be a sponsor. Just get outside and take a walk and share your participation on social media, using #RelayFirstLap. Since it’s inception, #RelayFirstLap has grown to engage Relayers from around the world and is a global day of celebration & building excitement for the new year!
