Colonial Players presents 33 Variations

October 22, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

$18

The Colonial Players of Annapolis is pleased to present the second production of their 69th season, 33 Variations, by Moisés Kaufmann. This compelling drama brings to life a man immersed in his music and a woman determined to understand his motivations, both while coping with the horrors of incurable illness. Moments of laughter, tears, and wonder await you during this mystery unraveled. The New York Times calls 33 Variations “innovative and engrossing,” and Talkin’ Broadway says “it’s a compellingly original and thoroughly watchable play for today that deserves to be remembered.”

A musicologist trying to accomplish her life’s work in the face of a debilitating disease and an estranged daughter. A composer coming to terms with his genius. And, even though they’re separated by 200 years, these two people share an obsession that might, even just for a moment, make time stand still. Drama, memory and music combine to transport you from present-day New York to nineteenth-century Austria in this extraordinary American play about passion, parenthood and the moments of beauty that can transform a life.

33 Variations features Dann Alagna, Mark Allen, Jean Berard, Rebecca Downs, Greg Ellis, McAndrew Noonan, Victoria Scalfaro, Ryan Shookman, and Paul Valleau. Performances run from October 20 through November 12, 2017. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m., Sunday performances begin at 2 p.m.

Tickets for 33 Variations are $23 for Adults, and $18 for Seniors, Students, and Military. Tickets can be purchased at tickets.thecolonialplayers.org, or by calling the Box Office at 410-268-7373, option 2.
