Pet Valu to immediately liquidate all stores including four in Anne Arundel County

Pet Valu, a nationwide pet retailer based in Wayne, Pennsylvania has announced that all stores nationwide will be closing with liquidation sales beginning immediately.

In Anne Arundel County there are four Pet Valu locations– Annapolis, Edgewater, Pasaadena and Gambrills.

The chain, with stores throughout the Northeast and the Midwest, blamed a “severe impact from COVID-19.”

“The Company’s stores have been significantly impacted by the protracted COVID-19-related restrictions,” Pet Value chief restructuring officer Jamie Gould said in a statement. “After a thorough review of all available alternatives, we made the difficult but necessary decision to commence this orderly wind down.”

As the COVID-19 pandemic lingers in Maryland and the US, experts have suggested that there will be massive closures of all sorts of businesses nationwide. In Annapolis we have seen Nordstrom, Brooks Brothers, Macaroni Grill, Modells Sporting Goods, Wren Bridal, Sakura, The Greene Turtle (2 re-opened as Smashing Grapes), Union Jacks, Rodizio Brazilian Steak House, City Dock Coffee, Sunset Restaurant, Aah Coffee, Zu Coffee, Regal Cinemas, Enchanted Art and Sole Comfort (closing at year’s end), Paladar, Great Gatherings, 24 Hour Fitness, and Baja Fresh have all closed in 2020.
