Three local businesses raise $30,000 for our local schools

| November 12, 2020, 01:12 PM

Many years ago, Jared Littmann, realized that as a neighborhood store, that he needed to give back. And Cash For Schools was born.  The concept was simple.  When a customer makes a purchase, they can donate a small amount to a designated school and K&B True Value Hardware would match it up to $5000.

Since its inception in 2009,  K&B True Value Hardware and their customers have donated a whopping $34,448 to our local schools.

This year, in addition to the $5000 match from K&B, Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits decided to offer their own $5000 match for contributions between $5000 and $10,000.  And not to be outdone, Severn Bank joined the team this year with an additional $5000 match for contributions between $10,000 and $15,000!

In the end, there was a potential for a $30,000 contribution.

Mission accomplished!

Last week, checks were presented to the Principals (or their representative) of many of the area schools that received donations.

In the front row of the photo above are Jared Littmann (K&B True Value Hardware), Dave Marberger (Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits) and Elizabeth Wrightson (Severn Bank). Attending the presentation from area schools were:
Annapolis Elementary Shelley Hartford
Annapolis Middle School Casey Hunt
Annapolis High School Patrick Gelinas
Bates Middle School Katie Hicks
Eastport Elementary School Susan Gallagher
Germantown Elementary School Karen Soneira
Key School Stephen Ginter
Monarch Academy Missi Smith
St. Anne’s School of Annapolis Sarah Hartman
St. Martin’s School Patrick Kiley
St. Mary’s Elementary Joanne Neppach

Littmann, the owner of K&B True Value Hardware simply said, “The teams at K&B True Value, Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits, and Severn Bank thank our customers and our schools for their parts in making this such a successful program.”
