Free assistance available for healthcare enrollment. Open enrollment begins November 1

A week of kickoff events to help people get free assistance enrolling assistance by phone for Maryland Health Connection will be held Nov. 6-15.

Open enrollment begins Nov. 1 for Marylanders to enroll in health and dental coverage through Maryland Health Connection, the state’s health insurance marketplace. Open enrollment ends Dec. 15.

Certified health insurance navigators will be ready to help Marylanders via phone to sign up for a health plan and understand their coverage options and financial help. Assistance also is available in Spanish.

Besides these phone events, consumers may enroll online at MarylandHealthConnection.gov, through the free “Enroll MHC” mobile app, or by calling 1-855-642-8572 toll-free from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays. Help is available in more than 200 languages. Also, more than 700 trained brokers and navigators are available to help throughout Maryland for the entire six-week open enrollment. The open enrollment period is for private health and dental plans only. People who have coverage through Medicaid will receive a notice when it’s time to renew. Those who qualify for Medicaid may enroll in it any time of year.
