After a successful Inaugural Guns & Hoses Night during their first season, the Maryland Black Bears will go from a single night dedicated to the Anne Arundel County Police (AACOPD) and Fire (AACOFD) Department to an entire Guns & Hoses Weekend.

Friday night (3/6, 7:00 PM) will be devoted to the Police Department and Saturday (3/7, 7:00 PM) will be the Fire Department’s night.

The Black Bears will donate 20% of ticket purchases when the department’s PROMO CODES are applied. AACOPD’s promo code is “BLUE.” The funds raised through this promo code will be donated to C.O.P.S., an organization dedicated to rebuilding the shattered lives of survivors and co-workers affected by line-of-duty deaths. AACOFD’s promo code is FIRE and the funds will support the purchase of smoke alarms for the Anne Arundel Community.

Similar to last season, the two departments will compete throughout the weekend to win the “Maryland Black Bears Guns & Hoses” Plaque that has been sponsored by Severn Bank. The winner will be decided by tallying up total fundraising dollars, the number of tickets sold, and intermission activities won. There will also be a Free Family Skate offered to both of the department’s communities on Saturday, March 7th, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

President of the Maryland Black Bears, Robyn Remick issued the following statement:

The Maryland Black Bears are thrilled to expand on the opportunity to honor, appreciate, and fundraise with the Anne Arundel County Police and Fire Department through Guns & Hoses Weekend. Building on the successful night we had last season from partnering with our local heroes was a main priority for the front office. The work these men and women in uniform do is nothing short of inspiring. This entire weekend will be a tribute to everything they do for Black Bear Nation and the entire Central Maryland Community.

Police Chief of the Anne Arundel Police Department, Tim Altomare followed:

We have been looking forward to this event since last year. Any chance we get to engage and interact with our community in a social setting makes an immeasurable difference in the relationship between the police department and the communities we serve.  We want to thank the Maryland Black Bears for their continued support.

Fire Chief of the Anne Arundel Fire Department, Trisha L. Wolford concluded:

We are excited to partner with the Black Bears for a second year with this exciting event. We enjoy the opportunity to come out and interact with the fans while supporting the County’s professional hockey team and raising funds to support our smoke alarm program.
