The following new actions are being taken:

  • The Primary election has been postponed until June 2nd. However to insure fair and full representation in the US Congress the special election to fill the 7th District Seat (former Rep Elijah Cummings) will proceed as planned.
  • Discussions with Stronach Group to postpone Preakness Stakes until September
  • All VEIP centers will be closed and repurposed by the Health Department as drive through COVID-19 Testing Stations
  • They are suspending all non-commercial vehicle testing at the MVA
  • Governors across the nation have requested that the President extend the deadline for REALID compliance
  • Changes at BWI include eliminating check-in lines. All restaurants are carryout only. Only ticketed passengers and employees will be allowed in terminal.
  • Mass transit. Reducing MARC, Metro and commuter bus routes by 50%  yet maintaining medical need for residents
  • All tolls in the state will now be cashless tolling or EZ-Pass tolling to avoid handling money

During the Q&A after his statements Hogan said that the majority of the virus spread is now by community transmission and not from travel or direct exposure. The State is still working to get the tests in place prior to opening any drive through testing stations.

The Governor also reaffirmed the advice of Dr Fauci that if you feel sick, stay home. If you’re an older person, stay at home and away from people as much as possible. If you have underlying condition, stay at home.

Finally the Governor strongly discouraged panic buying and assured residents that stores are indeed being re-stocked.
