For the most recent AACC updates, please refer to aacc.edu/virusinfo.

Services, such as the library, bookstore, Child Development Center, etc. will resume Thursday, March 26.

College Events
College events with more than 50 attendees scheduled through April 30 are canceled. This applies regardless of location. This decision will be reevaluated on April 15 for events scheduled after April 30. Currently, this does not apply to athletic events.

Travel
All AACC-related out-of-state and international travel is suspended until further notice. Personal travel is at each person’s own comfort level and discretion. Should employees or students choose to travel internationally: the CDC advises to avoid destinations with a level 2 alert and level 3 warning. It is requested that each person make the college aware of travel plans to level 2 and 3 countries. If a student or employee chooses to travel to locations with these travel notices, they will be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days before returning to class or work.

“Currently, there are no confirmed cases associated with AACC, however, the college is at a stage where we all can play a role in protecting the health and safety of our community,” said President Dawn Lindsay. “Thank you for your attention and cooperation as we work together and support one another.”

Maryland State Employees–all employees eligible, should begin to prepare for an extended period of telework.

Dear State Employee,

As you may have heard, the Governor announced that the state is moving to Level II of the Pandemic Flu and Other Infectious Diseases Attendance and Leave Policy in order to contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19).  What does this mean for you?

  • Until superseded by a subsequent announcement, State offices remain OPEN.
  • All business-related, overnight, out-of-state travel for all employees should not be scheduled and will not be funded, EXCEPT for individuals engaged in emergency preparedness activities.
  • If you are sick or are caring for sick family members, you are STRONGLY encouraged to use your leave to remain at home.
  • Employees who do not currently have enough leave to cover their absence will be permitted the use of ADVANCED sick leave (or ADVANCED paid time off, in the case of temporary employees).
  • Documentation requirements related to the use of sick leave for a flu-like illness will be eased.
  • Your agencies will begin to implement social distancing practices that protect your health and the health of the general public, such as encouraging the use of telephones, telecommunications, emails, etc. to handle day-to-day tasks.
  • You may be given clearance to telework whenever possible to prepare for a time when the spread of COVID-19 may prompt the state to move to a mandatory telework model for all non-emergency essential personnel.

Should you have any questions concerning this announcement, please contact your agency HR personnel, and they will be more than happy to explain the situation in greater detail.  Thank you.
