Boyfriend arrested in stabbing death of girlfriend in Glen Burnie

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating the stabbing death of a Glen Burnie woman early this morning. They have arrested her boyfriend in connection with the murder.

On Monday, March 23, 2020 at approximately 12:21 a.m., the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to the 5800 block of Larsen Street, Glen Burnie, Maryland for a stabbing. Upon arrival officers located a male subject, identified as 52-year old male resident of the address, with apparent blood on him outside the residence. Police quickly detained him without incident. Inside the residence, police located an adult female victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim, identified as thirty two year old Shannon Nicole Sauter of the same address, was transported to an area hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.

Detectives learned that the suspect and Shannon Sauter resided together and had been involved in a relationship. During the evening an altercation occurred in which the suspect began assaulting  Sauter. A witness tried to intervene at which time the suspect began to stab the victim.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy of Ms. Sauter and ruled her cause of death as multiple sharp force injuries with the manner being homicide. Homicide detectives charged the suspect with First and Second Degree Murder  and he is currently incarcerated at the Anne Arundel County Jennifer Road Detention Center on a no bond status.
