Annapolis Police Scholarship fundraiser rescheduled for June

The APD Scholarship Fundraiser, Spring Fling 2020 originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, was rescheduled to Thursday, June 11, at The Annapolis Market House on City Dock.

“This event directly affects whether some students can afford their college or trade school tuition this fall, we cannot let them down,” stated Lt Kevin Krauss.

Krauss works very closely with Annapolis youth through numerous community programs and spearheads the scholarship fund.  Last year’s event raised $20,000 and helped 9 graduating seniors to attend college (or trade school.) We hope to surpass that figure this year.

Lt Krauss continued, “Our goal is to grow the Annapolis Police Scholarship fund so that each recipient receives the monies for all 4 years of college or trade school.”

The scholarship fund dollars are raised through donations, tickets sales, and the event auctions. The Silent & Live Auctions feature “uniquely Annapolis”  experiences, including Pie Making Class for 4 with Dangerously Delicious Pie Man, Rodney Henry; Voice lessons with vocalist & vocal coach, Jeremy Ragsdale (Ragsdale Music, Berklee School of Music, The X Factor, etc); a family portrait session with acclaimed photographer, David Hartcorn;  The Military Bowl “VIP experience” for 4; Private, guided, tour of  Thomas Point Light House…

Tickets previously purchased will be honored for the new date:  Thursday June 11, 7-10pm. Tickets are $45, and a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $75.  VIP reception begins at 6pm with a meet & greet with Annapolis Mayor, Gavin Buckley.  To purchase tickets, go to AnnapolisPoliceScholarship.org

You can also support the fund by ordering Papa John’s Pizza in Annapolis, (115 Hillsmere Drive, and 2625 Housely Road.)  Place your order with promo code APDSCHOLAR40 to receive 40% off all regular menu prices, 10% of your order total will go to the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund. The code is valid on their app and their website.

The scholarship program was launched in 2017 in recognition of the Annapolis Police Department’s 150th Anniversary. Since then, the APD has awarded 14 scholarships to Annapolis youth.  The goal is to assist current graduating seniors that reside in the City of Annapolis. Students should have a 2.7 GPA and demonstrate financial need.  Community support and donations enable the fund to grow and provide future opportunities for Annapolis youth. The Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund is a 501C3.  Donations can be made on the website, AnnapolisPoliceScholarship.org

The Spring Fling is sponsored by Annapolis Market House, Chesapeake Properties, Frances Marketing Group, LLC, Papa John’s Pizza of Annapolis, and The Annapolis Police Department.
