Annapolis Police announce 2nd Annual Spring Fling fundraiser for scholarships for City youth

APD 150The Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund’s Spring Fling 2020 will be held Wednesday, March 18th at The Annapolis Market House on City Dock.  Last year $20,000 was raised at the event, for high school seniors in Annapolis to attend college or trade school, and the Foundation hopes to surpass that this year.

Attendees will enjoy ‘bites’ from several Annapolis’ eateries including Paladar, Tarin Thai, Mission BBQ, Dangerously Delicious Pies, Park Deli, and The Market House. The Silent Auction and Live Auction will feature fun and “uniquely Annapolis” treasures and experiences, including a much sought after Tailgate Package for the 2020 Annapolis Cup Croquet Match. (the event sold out in minutes over the weekend);  or bid on a family portrait session with David Hartcorn, or an Aaron Yealdhall painting, or The Military Bowl “VIP experience” for 4, or a Pie Making Class for 4 with the Dangerously Delicious Pie Man himself, Rodney Henry. The list of live and silent auction prizes continues to grow every day.

Just added a private trip to and a tour of the Thomas Point Light House led by the Restoration Foreman who is spearheading the restoration. Many pass this iconic structure on the Bay; few ever are able to actually go inside!  And local artist, Joe Barsin of Citizen Pride will design a one-of-a-kind piece of art just for you!

At least 7 scholarships will be awarded through the Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund this year.  A generous anonymous donor has once again provided $5,000 to fund scholarships to be awarded in honor of the victims of The Capital Gazette shooting: Gerald Fischman, Rob Hiaasen, John McNamara, Rebecca Smith, and Wendi Winters.

Lt Kevin Krauss said, “Our goal is to grow the Annapolis Police Scholarship fund so that each recipient will receive the monies for all 4 years of college or trade school.”  Krauss works very closely with Annapolis youth through numerous community programs. He is spearheading the scholarship fund and the fundraiser.

Tickets for the Spring Fling 2020 are $45. The celebration is from 7-10pm.  A limited number of VIP tickets will be available for $75.   The  VIP reception will begin at 6pm with a meet & greet with Annapolis Mayor, Gavin Buckley.  Tickets are on sale now on the website,

In recognition of the Annapolis Police Department’s 150th Anniversary in 2017, the Department proudly launched APD’s Scholarship Program. Since then, the APD has awarded 14 scholarships to Annapolis youth.  The program was established with the goal of assisting current graduating seniors that reside in the City of Annapolis.  They work with local schools and community organizations to identify students in need of financial aid to attend college.  With your help, they can continue to honor these high school graduates through the Scholarship Program.  Your support and donations enable the fund to grow and provide future opportunities for Annapolis youth. The Annapolis Police Scholarship Fund is a 501C3.  Donations can also be made on the website,
