The Baltimore Orioles announced that the club will host the New York Mets at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium on the grounds of the United States Naval Academy on Tuesday, March 24.
Prior to the game, both the Orioles and the Mets will tour the Naval Academy. The game is scheduled to start at 2:05 p.m. from Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium and will air on 105.7 The Fan and the Orioles Radio Network.
“We enthusiastically appreciate the relationship and friendship shared with the Angelos and Oriole family,” Navy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk said. “This contest to be played at the Academy is a perfect example of our mutual respect and interest in a long-standing partnership with the Oriole organization that benefits the community, our friends, fans, and the midshipmen. Based on past experience when hosting a similar exhibition, this game will be a rare opportunity for our coaches and players to meet, greet, and observe some of the best in the sport. We are all really excited and look very much forward with appreciation to the 24th of March.”
This marks the second time in the last four years that the Naval Academy has hosted an exhibition game between two MLB teams after the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox played in Annapolis on April 1, 2017.
The Orioles have played at the Naval Academy six times prior to this year. Navy faced the Baltimore Orioles in exhibition games in 1973, 1977, 1979, 1983, 1984 and 1985. The Orioles and Midshipmen also had a game rained out in 1970. In total, 12 exhibition games involving MLB teams have been played at the Naval Academy.
The Orioles and Navy announced a multi-dimensional partnership, which featured Oriole Park at Camden Yards hosting an Army-Navy doubleheader in 2018. Last season, the Orioles visited and toured the Naval Academy following their Spring Training schedule in Sarasota, Fla.
This event is not open to the public and ticket information for midshipmen and Naval Academy personnel will be announced at a later date.
Following the Orioles and Mets exhibition game on Tuesday, March 24, the Navy baseball team will host Delaware State at approximately 6 p.m. at Max Bishop Stadium.
