On February 3, 2020, about 6:30AM, the Annapolis Fire Department was dispatched to a car fire on West Street. When crews arrived they discovered several cars burning in the parking lot of Annapolis Car Center, a used car dealership.

Annapolis Car Center is located at 2000 West Street at the intersection of West and Gibraltar Avenue around the corner from the Monarch Academy Charter School which canceled classes today due to the fire.

To complicate the situation, there were several downed electrical wires and burning utility poles and crews needed to wait for BGE to shut off the power to safely complete the job,. Ultimately, the fires were extinguished with a special fire suppressing foam that suffocates the fire rather than douses it.

There is no damage estimate yet, nor has any cause of the fire been released.

Several photos of the fire were posted in the comments on Anne Arundel First Alert.

This story will be updated.
