On Random Acts of Kindness Day, Herrington on the Bay announced its wedding giveaway contest that will award a complete wedding to one deserving couple who is trying to make the world a better place.
“Part of our mission is to spread joy — that’s what weddings are all about — this is a way for us to do that and recognize others who are working to make the world a better place,” said Anna Chaney, owner of Herrington on the Bay in Rose Haven, Maryland.
To enter, couples simply submit a 30-second video that explains how they are making the world a better place.
“This contest is open to anyone because anyone can make a difference in the world. We’ve had so many wonderful couples celebrate their marriage with us — military men and women, teachers, nurses and doctors, entrepreneurs…In their own way, they’re all making our world a better place,” Anna said.
The contest winner will receive a complete wedding to take place on August 22, 2020 at Herrington on the Bay. The package includes a waterfront wedding ceremony to take place in the Herring Bay Garden, overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. The reception will be held in the Herrington Yacht Club, a historic two-story building, and includes full accommodations, a farm-to-table buffet dinner and open bar for up to 150 guests.
Several businesses have joined onto contest, generously donating goods and services for the event. Molly Humphrey of Artistic Imagez will provide wedding photography services, Brian Crow of Crow Entertainment will provide DJ services, Megan Di Iorio of Sweet Sue’s Bakeshop will provide the wedding cake, and Cynthia Jurkovic of Flower Follies will provide the wedding florals.
In total, the complete wedding is valued at more than $45,000.
“No act of kindness is too small — each one makes a ripple effect. We never know what a simple smile to a stranger can do for their day,” said Anna. “There is so much negative news. We want to collect good news and share it with our community and pay it forward in a big way.”
Entries will be accepted February 17 – March 17, 2020 and can be submitted via Facebook or Instagram Messenger or to [email protected]. The top ten entries will be posted on March 18 and voting will be open through April 1, 2020.
The winner will be determined by popular vote — that is which entry has the highest cumulative likes on the official Herrington on the Bay Facebook and Instagram pages.
