AACC to offer free tax services for those who qualify

Last year Francheska Salazar knew she had a challenging tax return. She also knew she didn’t want to handle it on her own. “I prefer to leave any dealings with the IRS to the experts,” said the Anne Arundel County resident.

As a student, she needed a cost-effective way to get things done. Enter the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program through Anne Arundel Community College’s School of Business and Law, where community members who earned less than $56,000 in 2019 can have their federal and state tax returns completed by trained volunteers for free.

“Honestly, I would not have been able to complete this on my own,” said the veteran and student who also worked within the tax year.  “The amount of expertise, patience and willingness to help made all the difference to me. My case took far longer than anticipated, but they researched and found answers.”

This free service will run through Saturday, April 4.
