After armed robbery in Laurel, police remind public of Transaction Safe Zones

On October 13, 2019 at approximately 12:45pm Anne Arundel County Police officers responded to the 8300 block of Cloud Street in Laurel for a robbery of a citizen. The victim advised she was supposed to meet someone to buy a phone she found for sale on a “for sale by owner” application.

When she arrived, two men approached her and gave her a box. The victim opened the box and realized it was filled with aluminum foil and did not contain a phone. When she looked back up to confront the suspects, one of the males was holding a knife and demanded her money. The victim complied and the suspects fled the area. There were no injures reported in this incident.

The Anne Arundel County Police remind everyone that all of the police stations lobbies are Transaction Safe Zones. Please use these stations as safe places to conduct internet transactions. Additionally, the Annapolis Police Department lobby is also a safe transaction zone as well as a specially designated spot (painted green) in their parking lot that is monitored by video.

Anyone with any information on this robbery is asked to contact the Western District Detective Unit at 410-222-6155 or the TipLine 410-222-4700.
