Maryland Hall to be renamed the Michael E. Busch Center for the Arts at Maryland Hall

In an email sent to supporters this afternoon, Maryland Hall’s CEO, Margaret Davis, said she woudl be making an historic announcement at Arts Alive! this Friday.

In August, the Maryland Hall Board of Directors voted to rename and rebrand the arts institution as the Michael E. Busch Center for the Arts at Maryland Hall.

The Honorable Michael E. Busch was a champion for the arts in the State of Maryland as well as a dedicated supporter of Maryland Hall during his more than 30 years in the House of Delegates.

Davis said, “By honoring Mike we also honor the State of Maryland and its generous ongoing support of our capital improvements and new facilities to help us deliver on our commitment of Art for All. “

A full community celebration is planned for January, Busch’s birthday month, at which time new signage and branding will be revealed.

Busch was the Speaker of the House of Delegates and an ardent supporter of the arts community. He passed away from complications of pneumonia in April of this year.
