| September 04, 2019, 04:53 PM

NOTE: The Anne Arundel County Fire Department has this address listed as Edgewater; however it is located off of Old Solomon’s Island Road near Route 2 in the Parole section of Annapolis.

Just before 2:00pm this afternoon, the Anne Arundel County 9-1-1 center began receiving multiple calls reporting a fire in the area of the 100 block of Dorsey Drive. Initial callers reports ranged from a small brush fire, to a shed fire to a possible dwelling on fire.

Firefighters from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department  arrived on the scene and located a small pile of debris on fire to the rear of two homes. Amid the debris was a deceased adult victim.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit working in conjunction with the Anne Arundel County Police.

The victim will be transported to the Office of the State Medical Examiner in Baltimore for a determination of the cause and manner of death.

The fire did cause minor damage (melted siding) to two nearby homes. This is an active investigation and there is no additional information at this time. Crews from the Annapolis Fire Department and the Naval Support Activity Annapolis Fire Department assisted.
