The Baysox bounced back as home runs from Cedric Mullins and Martin Cervenka paced Bowie to a 7-2 win Sunday afternoon in Binghamton, NY. With the win coupled with an Erie rainout, the Baysox are now tied for first in the Western Division.
The Baysox got a strong pitching performance from starter Tyler Herb, who returned from Triple-A Norfolk, going 6 innings to get his first Baysox win of the season. Cody Sedlock followed and did not allow a hit in three innings to register his first professional save.
Tied at 2-2 in the sixth inning, Mullins led off the inning with a solo home run to right off the batting cage behind the right field wall. Rylan Bannon led off the seventh inning with a triple to center and scored on a Preston Palmeiro RBI-groundrule double to go up 4-2. Palmeiro later scored on Mason McCoy’s second RBI-single of the afternoon.
In the ninth inning, Cervenka lifted a two-run shot to left field off of a knuckleball to put the game away. It was his fourth home run of the year.
The Baysox return home Monday July, 29th to take on Reading with RHP Dean Kremer getting the start. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior on 1430-WNAV and 99.9 FM in the city of Annapolis.
Bowie is making a push towards the Eastern League Playoffs. Get tickets at 301-464-4865 or purchase online at baysox.com.
