Baysox shutout Erie 4-0

Zac Lowther worked 5 and 1/3rd scoreless innings and Rylan Bannon registered four hits including a home run as the Baysox shutout Erie 4-0 in the series opener Thursday evening.

The Baysox got out to an early lead. Bannon homered deep to left-center with two down in the first inning to give the Baysox an early 1-0 advantage. The home run was his team leading fourth of the year.

In the second, Ademar Rifaela singled and then scored on an RBI double to right-center from Brett Cumberland. It was the beginning of a big night for the Baysox catcher who drove home three of the Baysox four runs on the night.

Lowther was solid, striking out six in his start while allowing just one hit. Just two balls reached the outfield in his 5 and 1/3rd inning effort. The win was his second on the season.

The Baysox got two big insurance runs in the eighth inning. Bowie loaded the bases with two down and Cumberland came through again. He lined a soft single into left-center plating two more runs to double the Baysox lead.

Zach Muckenhirn, Pedro  Araujo and Tyler Erwin all entered to finish off the shutout win.
