Martin Cervenka’s go-ahead solo home run in the eighth inning completed a 4-3 Bowie Baysox comeback win over the Erie SeaWolves in front of 6,738 at Prince George’s Stadium Friday night.

Leading off the eighth inning against relief pitcher Will Vest, Cervenka launched his first home run of the 2019 season just to the right of dead center field to give the Baysox (14-26) their first lead of the game, having trailed 3-0 entering the seventh inning.

The visitors opened the scoring with a Kade Scivicque double in the second inning and tacked on a second run via a Josh Lester solo home run in the fifth inning. That was all the offense Erie mustered against Baysox starter Marcos Molina, who recorded his third quality start of the season.

The righty scattered seven hits and struck out five SeaWolves along with those two runs. In his last two home games, Molina has allowed two runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.

The SeaWolves (19-18) scored a third run in the seventh inning, but Bowie rallied to tie the game with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. Ryan McKenna singled to extend his hitting streak to seven games and scored on a Carlos Perez comebacker off Erie reliever Nolan Blackwood.

One batter later, Brett Cumberland sent an opposite-field double to the left field corner, plating Ademar Rifaela. One batter later, Zach Jarrett flared a single over the glove of second baseman Sergio Alcantara to score Perez.

For a second straight night, the bullpen rose up and kept the Baysox in the game. RHP Cristian Alvarado allowed one unearned run in 1 2/3 innings, while LHP Zach Muckenhirn earned his first win of the season by striking out three batters in the final 1 1/3 innings.

Bowie looks to earn a series win in game three of four Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. RHP Hunter Harvey (1-3, 6.23 ERA) looks to bounce back from Monday night’s defeat in Akron against Erie RHP Alex Faedo (2-2, 4.05 ERA).

Saturday night is the second Reading Night for Anne Arundel, Queen Anne’s and Howard Counties, with a postgame fireworks show presented by Educational Systems Federal Credit Union. The All-American Girls Professional Baseball League will be in attendance for the annual tribute night at the ballpark, with several former players in attendance for meet-and-greet time and autographs on the concourse.
