After the Baysox saw a three-run advantage slip away in the late innings in Richmond on Tuesday night, they made sure in extra innings it would not happen again. Ryan McKenna sparked a three-run rally with an RBI-triple opening the tenth inning and Bowie took the series opener 8-5 in ten innings.

After Richmond tied the game at 5-apiece in the seventh inning, Tyler Erwin entered a tie game to work the ninth. He got out of a jam with a runner at second and no outs to send the game to extras. When it was all said and done, Erwin’s two-inning scoreless appearance would lead to his first Eastern League win.

In the tenth inning with the given runner placed at second base in Sean Miller, McKenna pounced on a first pitch fastball. He drove the ball over the centerfielder Levi Michael’s head and legged out an RBI-triple. McKenna would then score on a smashed single through the drawn in infield off the bat of Rylan Bannon. Later in the frame, Bannon came home to make it 8-5 on an Anderson Feliz RBI-single down the right field line.

The Baysox had grabbed the lead early in the contest with a four-run, fourth inning rally. That would whittle away though in a tough Bowie debut for former Orioles reliever Pedro Araujo. He faced four batters, walking three, without recording an out and Richmond plated three of the four to tie the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning.

Bannon went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI’s. Zach Muckenhirn, Zach Pop and Erwin each threw two scoreless innings in the win. Bowie was 6-for-10 in the game with runners in scoring position.

The series will conclude Wednesday, April 10th at 10:35 a.m. with LHP Bruce Zimmermann slated for the morning time start. Coverage begins 20-minutes prior on wnav.com, baysox.com and via the Tune-In App by searching Baysox.
