Downtown Annapolis Partnership angling for a $25K prize in contest

Independent We Stand, a national small business movement, has kicked-off its fourth annual America’s Main Streets contest to help consumers, small business owners and Main Street organizations reward a deserving Main Street with $25,000 in cash and sponsor-related prizes. Annapolis Main Street in downtown Annapolis is among this year’s nominees.

“Our Independent We Stand America’s Main Streets contest shines a light on the pride business owners and communities take in their Main Streets,” says Independent We Stand co-founder Bill Brunelle. “We know small businesses on these Main Streets help them thrive and have a measurable economic impact. This contest is a chance to share those stories with people from coast-to-coast.”

The historic Annapolis Main Street is filled with locally owned restaurants and shops that serves our local and out of town visitors.  All these visitors put a strain on maintaining the beautiful historic nature of Downtown. If awarded the $25,000 prize funding will be put towards sprucing up downtown Annapolis and creating a placemaking event to thank the community for their support.

“Voting for your hometown or your favorite local destination is an easy way to give back to the community you love.” says Erik Evans the Executive Director of the Downtown Annapolis Partnership.

The first round of voting in the contest began as soon as Annapolis Main Street was nominated and runs through April 21. All nominations and voting take place on MainStreetContest.com. From there, entrants will be whittled down and a semi-final round of voting will determine the winner which will be announced on June 3. Voting is as simple as two clicks. Click the button below, and then the “VOTE” button on the Annapolis page. No registration required!
