Bitty & Beau’s Coffee coming to Annapolis City Dock

Yesterday, Bitty, Beau, and their mom, Amy Wright, founder of Bitty & Beau’s Coffee had this to say about Annapolis on their Facebook Page.

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee was founded to provide job opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and is expected to employ 20 at their newest location on City Dock in Annapolis.  The proposed location will be in the former Starbucks location next to Moe’s Southwest Grill.

The infrastructure for a coffee shop exists and all that remains is getting through the City of Annapolis permitting process and building out the space to suite their needs. Wright says she anticipates the location will be open by Summer 2019.

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee currently has three locations–Charleston, Savannah, and Wilmington, NC.  Established in 2016 in Wilmington, NC as Beau’s Coffee, the shop was run by 19 employees with intellectual disabilities. In July of that year, Beau wanted his sister’s name in lights as well and Bitty & Beau’s was born.

With over 80% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities unemployed nationwide, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee creates a path for people with  disabilities to become more valued, accepted and included in every community.  In February 2018, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee opened a second shop in Charleston, SC and a third shop opened in Savannah, GA, in September 2018. Bitty & Beau’s Coffee currently employs 60 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and has been featured on The Today Show, Rachael Ray, CNN, Harry, Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, HLN, People Magazine and Southern Living Magazine. Founder, Amy Wright, was named 2017 CNN Hero of the Year.

We welcome them to Annapolis!  Here’s a bit more about Bitty & Beau’s
