Tomorrow: Rising Stars! LSO and Young Artist Competition winners in concert

Londontowne SymphonyThe Londontowne Symphony Orchestra is proud to present a concert featuring the three high school winners of the LSO’s state-wide Young Artist Competition held last November. The concert will be held on Saturday, March 9, at St. Johns College, Key Auditorium at 7:30 pm. This is the sixth year that the LSO has been bringing three of the best high school musicians in Maryland to the stage to play with a full orchestra in front of a live audience.

Anna Binneweg, LSO’s Music Director/Conductor has chosen to open the concert with Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis and close with Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances. In between, the audience will be amazed at the abilities of these three winners.

Vivian Yuan is a senior in the International Baccalaureate program at Richard Montgomery High school in Rockville. She will play the third movement of Ibert’s Flute Concerto.

Joseph Mostwin is a 15-year-old cellist and is a 9th-grade freshman in Baltimore, Maryland, where he studies at the Peabody Preparatory Performance Academy for Strings. He will play Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme.

Amy Germer is a 16-year-old pianist and is a senior in the Poolesville High School magnet program in Montgomery County. She will play the first movement of Greig’s Piano Concerto in A minor.

The LSO is central Maryland’s community orchestra made up of local professionals, teachers, military musicians, exceptional amateurs and students. They play for the love of making high-quality music for themselves and for their listeners, and they have the development of young musicians as part of their mission.

Tickets are available at www.lso-music.org, at (410) 562-8920 or at the door. General admission tickets are $20, seniors are $15 and students are FREE.
