Rebels route Black Bears 7-0

The Jamestown Rebels got its eighth straight win over the Maryland Black Bears, scoring multiple goals in each period en route to a 7-0 win. The Black Bears still sit nine points out of a playoff spot with nine games remaining.

Rebels’ forward Sam Anzai got things started, crashing the net and roofing a shot over the glove of Maryland  goalie Anthony Del Tufo to make it 1-0. Nick Stuckless made it 2-0 later that period, shooting a wrist shot top left side from the left circle.

Jamestown made it 3-0 when defender Colin Price shot the puck on goal, and it went off of Del Tufo’s pad and the skate of Rebels’ forward Antonio Venuto and into the net. Noah Finstrom made it 4-0 for Jamestown, putting the puck in off of a rebound from close range.

The Black Bears got into penalty trouble in the third and the Rebels made them pay with two quick power play goals. Jim Glynn struck first burying a rebound on the left side of the net. Defender Seth Bergeron made it 6-0 Jamestown with a wrist shot from the point finding the back of the net 25 seconds later. Nick Stuckless capped off the evening when he put a rebound home on the backhand in the final minute.

Anthony Del Tufo made 37 saves in the loss while Rebels’ goalie Noah West recorded 17 saves in his third shutout of the season. Jamestown and Maryland face off one final time Saturday, March 2nd at Piney Orchard Ice Arena. Puck drop will be at 7:45 P.M ET as the Black Bears look for revenge.
