Homicide detectives were gaining intelligence that Edwin Javier Hurtado-Valdez had fled the country and went to Mexico. Armed with this intelligence Anne Arundel County Police began disseminating wanted flyers to the southern United States. On Wednesday, March 27, 2019 the State Police of Tamaulipas Mexico in Nuevo Laredo Mexico reached out to United States Law Enforcement advising Edwin Hurtado-Valdez may be in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico which is located on the U.S./Mexican border near Laredo, Texas.
Homicide detectives coordinated efforts with U.S. and Mexican law enforcement authorities where Edwin Hurtado-Valdez was taken into custody by the State Police of Tamaulipas Mexico that evening without incident. Once in custody the suspect waived extradition back to the United States where the U.S. Marshals took custody of him. In the following weeks it is expected Edwin Hurtado-Valdez will be extradited back to Anne Arundel County to face the charges related to the murder of Mr. Briggs and Mr. Queen.
Homicide detectives continued their search for his wife, Cambria Sieck, who was wanted for being an accessory after the fact in regards to the double murder. Intelligence has led detectives to believe she had also fled the state to avoid apprehension from law enforcement authorities. On Thursday, March 28, 2019, the Fugitive Apprehension Team (FAT) working with the homicide detectives were able to convince Cambria Sieck’s family to have Cambria turn herself in. On Friday, March 29, 2019 just after midnight, Cambria Sieck responded to the Anne Arundel County Police Eastern District and turned herself over to homicide detectives. She is currently incarcerated at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on a no bond status.
