Dogwood Acres raises $4000 for pet oxygen masks for local fire departments

Dogwood Acres has announced  that they raised $4,000 for the purchase of pet oxygen masks for local fire departments through a holiday raffle with ticket sales. Tickets were offered for purchase for a chance to win Southwest airline tickets. Proceeds from the raffle along with a generous donation from Dogwood Acres covered the purchase of masks for each of the local Volunteer Fire Departments in Anne Arundel County.

Statistics show that approximately 40,000 pets die annually from home fires, mostly from smoke inhalation. Dogwood raised funds to purchase 62 oxygen mask kits. The kits come in various sizes to fit pets of different sizes. Kits were delivered March 1 at the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Fire Association monthly meeting. Dogwood Acres Owner Audrey Reichardt commented on the donation saying, “We were so happy to raise funds for this amazing cause. Our goal was to provide at least one mask to each fire department, and we exceeded that goal. It feels so great to know that we can help save local pets’ lives one breath at a time.”
