Community Action Agency guest bartending at the Light House Bistro on Wednesday!

The Anne Arundel County Community Action Agency and the Light House, both Annapolis-based nonprofit organizations, are partnering to host a reception for a raffle drawing at the Light House Bistro, which is located at 202 West Street in Annapolis, on March 27th from 5-7 p.m.  City of Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley will be drawing the prize-winning ticket for the raffle.  Community Action staff members will be guest bartenders for the event.

The Community Action Board of Directors is sponsoring the fundraising raffle to support the programs of the Agency.  Tickets are still available for the raffle, which offers the winner a week-long accommodation at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove Resort, which is located in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, and round-trip airline tickets for two to St. Thomas.  The privately-owned condo sleeps eight, and the resort is perfect for a family get-away, with activities for adults and children alike.  Tickets are being sold in packets of three for $25.

“When the Agency decided to have a public drawing for the raffle, partnering with the Light House seemed a natural match,” said Dr. Charlestine Fairley, CEO of Community Action.  “It gives us an opportunity to not only raise awareness of Community Action programs, but to showcase the Light House Bistro, which is giving homeless people the opportunity to go through training and gain experience to lead them to living-wage jobs.”

“We are grateful for this long-standing partnership,” stated Light House Executive Director, Jo Ann Mattson.  “The Community Action Agency works with our staff to provide important services for our clients, such as financial assistance, rapid rehousing funds, eviction prevention funds, and more.  We look forward to continuing to build a stronger community together.”

Community Action and the Light House invite members of the community to join them on March 27th for the raffle drawing reception.  There is still time to purchase tickets!  Contact Julie Snyder at 410.626.1900 x1026 or [email protected] to purchase in advance, or attendees can purchase them at the reception.
