Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has announced that 27,145,831 commercial passengers flew through Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in 2018, a new all-time annual record.  The 2018 annual passenger traffic figure, a 2.9 percent increase over 2017, represents the fourth-consecutive annual passenger record for BWI Marshall.

“BWI Marshall Airport is a major transportation and economic development resource for Maryland, and we are proud to celebrate another record-breaking performance in 2018,” said Governor Hogan.  “The airport and its partners continue to provide our citizens, businesses, and visitors with convenient, efficient travel and excellent customer service.”

In 2018, BWI Marshall Airport was rated among the top 10 airports in the United States, according to Condé Nast Traveler’s Annual Readers’ Survey.  The survey highlighted BWI Marshall Airport’s efficiency, transit access, and amenities, noting that foodies, “like the multitude of places to sample Maryland’s famous crabs.”

“We thank our customers and airlines for another record year marked by steady growth and success,” said Ricky Smith, Executive Director of BWI Marshall Airport.  “BWI Marshall remains a passenger-friendly and convenient airport.  We remain focused on customer service, and our airline partners offer service to a wide variety of destinations with extremely competitive airfares.”

BWI Marshall Airport remains the busiest airport in the region.  The airport continues to add new airlines and service to new markets.  BWI Marshall now offers service to 91 domestic and international destinations.  Last year, Governor Hogan announced that BWI Marshall Airport produces a total economic impact of $9.3 billion.  The airport and visitors generate and support more than 106,000 jobs throughout Maryland and the region.
