The Anne Arundel County Public Library is offering the following programs to celebrate Women’s History Month.

African Safari Counting Book Reading

Friday, March 1 at 10:30 am at Discoveries: The Library at the Mall

Author Jessica Ann Mitchell Aiwuyor will share her book African Safari Counting Book: Learning Numbers 1-20.

Women in STEM Storytime

Tuesday, March 5 at 10 am at the Deale Library

Enjoy a guest reader from the STEM industry as she shares stories, songs and activities about women scientists, engineers and mathematicians!

Mad Scientist Party

Tuesday, March 5 at 1 pm at the Severn Library 

Try out some crazy science experiments and STEM activities inspired by the discoveries of famous women scientists. Registration required by calling 410.222.6280.

Author Visit: Michelle Y. Green 

Thursday, March 7 at 6 pm at the Severn Library 

Author Michelle Y. Green, uses storytelling to introduce audiences to Peanut Johnson, the only woman to pitch in the Negro Leagues. Learn about Ms. Green’s writing process, how she met the real Peanut Johnson, and the exciting details of a movie version in the works.

Thursdays, March 7, 14, 21 and 28 at 6:30 pm at the Crofton Library 

This series will showcase women from all walks of life presenting accounts of how Science, Technology, Engineering and Math have impacted their lives.

“Beyond the Call” Book Discussion

Saturday, March 9 at 1 pm at the Odenton Library

Author and US Army veteran Eileen Rivers talks about her book Beyond the Call, which chronicles the experiences of service women on the front lines in Afghanistan (and an Afghan woman who was helped by one of them).

The Freedom Choir Celebrates National Women’s History Month

Wednesday, March 13 at 6:30 pm at the Edgewater Library 

The Freedom Choir, led by award-winning musician/vocalist Elizabeth Melvin, will perform songs of hope, peace, and healing written by and about women around the world!

“A Map in the Dark” 

Wednesday, March 20 at 2 pm at the Maryland City at Russett Library 

Theatre of Eternal Values performs shadow puppetry, poetry, and narration to trace daring journeys across slavery and freedom in “A Map in the Dark,” an exploration of history, grief, and friendship between Harriet Tubman and her first biographer Sarah Hopkins Bradford.
