The Cyphers Agency, a full-service marketing and advertising firm founded in 1989, celebrated not only its first year in its new Crofton, Md. office, but also its 30th year in business, in early February.
“When I started The Cyphers Agency as a one-man shop 30 years ago, I saw myself as a jack-of-all-trades; my goal was to build an agency with employees who specialize in each aspect of marketing,” said Dave Cyphers, President and Founder of The Cyphers Agency. “I’m immensely proud of the team we’ve built along the way. But, after 30 years in business, I also know that the quality of your environment can greatly impact your people and what they produce.”
After outgrowing the previous Annapolis office, this philosophy led Cyphers to purchase the standalone colonial building along Crofton Parkway. Conveniently located between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Md., and boasting nearly twice the space, the agency’s new home features modern, personalized workspaces for each employee; two spacious breakout rooms; a large upstairs lounge that hosts a daily real-time social media strategy meeting; a plethora of house plants and exterior landscaping; and ample parking space.
“It’s actually hard to believe that we’ve only been here a year,” said Darren Easton, Vice President and Creative Director. “After observing a year’s worth of team interactions, from agency-wide brainstorms to the impromptu one-on-one exchanges of ideas that occur every day, it’s clear everyone feels at home.”
Beyond the upgrades inside the office, the Cyphers team has also taken to its new surroundings. “Our proximity to the Crofton Country Club and residential neighborhoods has been an unexpected benefit,” said Cyphers. “I’ve seen folks go for runs around the neighborhood after work and partake in the summer farmer’s market across the street. Even small perks like these can go a long way in creating a positive work culture, so I’m pleased to see the team fully embrace our new home.”
As for what’s next for the agency, Cyphers points to continual growth. “We started before the digital era, so it’s dizzying to think about how many services and skills we’ve added throughout the past 30 years. We most recently expanded our public relations division and video production capabilities. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by a team constantly hungry to learn and evolve, so I can’t wait to see what our future holds.”
