Central Avenue crash leaves Edgewater woman with life-threatening injuries

Last evening, (February 19, 2019) at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to Central Avenue East at Loch Haven Road in Edgewater for a single vehicle crash.

A Nissan Maxima, operated by Frederick Stevens of Edgewater, was traveling eastbound on Central Avenue approaching Loch Haven Road. He failed to negotiate a curve and lost control. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, left the roadway and struck a tree. The passenger identified as a 22-year old female from Edgewater, was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to a local trauma center with life threatening injuries. Stevens driver was uninjured and refused transport.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the driver failing to remain in a single lane. Speed and alcohol appear to have contributed to this crash. The case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
