Black Bears call up goalie Anthony Del Tufo

The Maryland Black Bears have called up Goalie Anthony Del Tufo from their EHL affiliate, Team Maryland. Anthony Del Tufo is a 5’9, 165-pound New Jersey native that has played with the Black Bears before. Del Tufo made his Black Bears debut this past December and put up 29 saves for a .935 SV% against the WBS Knights.

Del Tufo started both games this past weekend against the Northeast Generals and the net minder’s play was stellar. Del Tufo was so impressive that not only did the Team Maryland sensation earn a permanent roster spot on the Black Bears, he was also named the NAHL East Divisional Player of the Week. The newest Black Bear had 30 saves on Saturday in a 3-2 overtime win and then another 30 on Sunday for a 3-1 victory to complete the weekend series sweep. Del Tufo has only played three games for the Black Bears this year, but his numbers have been very good when called upon. So far, the young goalie has a 2-1 record, 1.66 GAA, and a .947 SV% against NAHL competition.

“Anthony has been around our team all season, and not only is he a talented goalie but is one of the most respected kids in our Team Maryland program,” said Maryland Black Bears Head Coach Clint Mylymok. “We are very happy for him, and look forward to seeing him continue to develop with the Maryland Black Bears.”

“What Del Tufo has accomplished is a true representation of making the best of an opportunity when given the chance to prove yourself,” said Team Maryland (EHL) Head Coach Jason Rowe. “This will be the first Team Maryland player to earn a permanent roster spot on the Black Bears. At Team Maryland, the vision is to progress, improve, and elevate our players. I’m very excited to see this vision come into fruition.”
