Hays drives Baysox to 6-4 win

BaysoxAustin Hays two-run, sixth inning home run lifted the Baysox to the lead in a 6-4 series opening win in Erie Friday night. It was the shining moment in a scintillating night for Hays who went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBI’s in the victory.
Hays started the scoring for Bowie as well. He doubled sharply over third base to drive home a run and then scored on an Anderson Feliz RBI-single to tie the game at 2 in the second inning. But the Baysox would fall behind agin trailing 4-2 into the sixth inning.

Ryan Mountcastle tripled withone down to start the rally on a drive high off of the left-centerfield wall. He then scored on a sac-fly from Aderlin Rodriguez. The Baysox weren’t done for yet however. Yusniel Diaz doubled down the right field line, inside-outing the ball to right and then alluding the tag at second to keep the inning alive. And Hays quickly made it pay dividends. He hit a soaring home run to left-center off the roof of Erie Insurance Arena to put Bowie up for good 5-4.
Baysox starter Dillon Tate battled through 5 and 1/3rd innings to pickup his firt organizational win. It was an organizational first for reliever Zach Pop as well who picked up the save getting the final four outs of the game. Chris Lee did not allow a hit in 2 and 1/3rd scoreless frames.
