Senators shut out Baysox in 11-0 loss

BaysoxMore early offense sparked a second straight win for the Harrisburg Senators, who defeated the Bowie Baysox by an 11-0 score in front of 2,466 at Prince George’s Stadium Friday night.

The latest trend of the visitors jumping out in front early continued for the third straight game, with Dan Gamache grounding a single through the drawn-in infield to give Harrisburg a quick 1-0 lead.

Gamache struck again in the second inning, lining a two-strike, two-out single up the middle to plate two more. Taylor Gushue followed with a similar result to drive in the fourth run in two innings, giving the Senators a 4-0 lead. The Senators (46-41) added seven runs in the later innings to expand their lead.

Ryan McKenna led the way offensively for Bowie (37-49), recording two of the team’s five hits on a pair of doubles down the right field line. With those two hits, the Baysox center fielder is the owner of a seven-game hitting streak and has recorded at least one hit in 12 of his first 16 Double-A contests. Additionally, Ademar Rifaela extended his seven-game hitting streak by hitting a double for the third straight game, while Ryan Mountcastle extended his team-leading hitting streak to 10 games.

Bowie looks to right the ship Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. ET, when LHP Reid Love makes his first start of the season after spending the first three months in the bullpen against Harrisburg All-Star RHP Kyle McGowin.
